How to Make Jjajangmyeon 짜장면 (Noodles with Black Bean Sauce)

Is your mouth watering all ready just by looking at the pic? Mine is. Jjajangmyeon 짜장면 is a dish that has noodles with black bean sauce. If you've watched some Korean dramas, most likely they will be seen eating this dish as it's fast and cheap. If you don't have a Korean Chinese restaurant nearby you, don't fret! You can easily make this dish at home, and it might even taste better! ;)

Korean Weight Standards

When it comes to weight issues, it is definitely something that I deal with on a daily basis. I have my ups and downs, and it’s been an ongoing battle for many, many years. When I was younger, I was actually quite thin. It wasn’t until I hit puberty around 9 when I started gaining a significant amount of weight. Now, I’m not blaming my sole weight gain on the fact I was starting puberty, but I’m sure some of the weight was from it. I was active in sports like swimming, basketball, and soccer. None of these contributed to any weight loss, and honestly at that age, it wasn’t a real concern then. You’re a kid; be a kid!

A Sister from Another Mister

Bien Venidos!  My name is Annie, and I have been asked to contribute to my cousin Angela’s blog.  For my first post, I decided to introduce myself by explaining in detail my relationship with my cousin, and provide some insight on the most embarrassing secrets that she probably doesn’t even remember and would not appreciate me telling.

The Ahjumma Hair

If you grew up in an Asian family, I’m sure you might have had your share of hair perms aka The Ahjumma Hair / Ahjumma Perm or know someone who has. Ahjumma means “older lady” in Korean. Lots of older ladies and grandmothers like to sport this poofy, curly hair. It’s not only stylish to them, but it’s also a form of convenience as it’s a very low maintenance hairstyle. I swear, from the moment I was born, it seemed as though my mother has had my hair permed. Looking back at childhood pics, I have always don the ahjumma hair. I would admit in some pics I looked kind of cute, but for the most part I looked like a 50 year old lady stuck in the body of a 5 year old.

The 10 Stages of K-Drama Addiction

1. You start off watching a drama expecting nothing. Maybe you've heard or read that it had good ratings and give it a shot.

Korean Dramas - Expectations vs Reality

I guess you can say that I've watched a few Korean dramas during my lifetime. Okay, make that more than 100 or so. The thing about these dramas is that you get sucked into the story line and fall in love with the characters. They also mess with your head a bit and give you a false realization on life. For me, it was my love life.

Hey Unni - Monolid Talk

My older brother use to tease me a lot when I was younger. We always fought and I just never understood how we were related. That is one day when he told me I was adopted. He went on and on about how I was left in a dumpster and that my parents felt sorry for me and took me in. Obviously, this was completely false, but I was naive and believed him.

Even though I knew he was lying, I started thinking about how I felt like I didn't look anything like my parents. Mainly because my eyes were monolids (no defined crease on the eyelids) and my mother had double eyelids. I started thinking about it more and more and started to believe what my brother was telling me. I remember running up to my mother, crying my eyes out, and telling her that I knew the truth. I brought up the fact that we didn't look alike and how we had different eyes.
